We started this match home in Sundbyhallen with the strong intent to win, hopefully without giving any sets to Lynge and favourable to secure the first position in the table.
Well…unfortunately this game definitely didn’t meet our positive expectations. From the first match against Lynge we knew about their routine and ability to fight and this was probably what caused a lot of problems right from the beginning. We won the first set just 25:23 . In the second set we had problems to collect points because our attacks were mostly defended by Lynge and we had difficulties with their unstable play. A lot of short balls and our lack to fight for every ball let us loose this set 13:25.
Motivated to change this unsteady match we started into the third set and had some quiet good actions, definitely better as in the second set with good settings from Ulla and effective block actions. Even more disappointing was the result of this set because the referee decided at a score of 23:24 that our last attack by Rikke was played outside the antenna which was definitely (!!) not the case. This incomprehensible decision cost us the third set. A bit sour but even more determined to fight we started into the fourth set which went quiet well. With some good support of the audience we demonstrated that we could play much better than in then last sets and won, having a lot of good serves and attacks, very clearly 25: 14.
Regrettably we weren’t able to continue like this in the fifth set. Lacking the power to continue right from the beginning of the set we waited too long and played a very close last set. Very annoyingly we lost (after nearly two hours) 13:15. Definitely a very disappointing result because Lynge wasn’t an unbeatable team. We had some quiet good periods during this game but weren’t able to play stable enough to determine the game.
Even though it was nice having a lot of people in Sundbyhallen and hopefully we’re doing a better job in the next game against Grøndal.
